Fall 2019

“LET’S WALK THIS SPIRITUAL JOURNEY TOGETHER”

From the Pastor’s Desk…

Summer time is slipping away and we will be into the fall very soon. As we look ahead to the harvest season, metaphysically we are reminded to consider any seeds we may have sown this year with our thoughts, words or deeds that we might not be pleased to have to “harvest,” or see manifest in our lives. We must be our own good stewards of the fertile ground that is God Energy, which brings the things we give attention to a physical presence in our visible world. Want what you expect, but also expect only what you truly want.

During Sept. we keep our Summer Hours- 6:30 PM for Healing, 7:00 PM for our Worship service. In October we shift back to afternoons. 2 PM is our Healing Service and 2:30 PM is our Worship Service.

Fall also signals our time to start back to classes and extra events. There is a wonderful conference in Grand Rapids at The Coptic Center, which is led by our friend John Davis. The Spiritual Unity of Nations (SUN) holds its annual day of lectures on Sat. Sept. 7 starting at 10 AM. There are some great speakers on the schedule; the theme is “World Peace and Prosperity For All People and All Nations. Visit www.SpiritualUnityofNations.org for more information and to register if you decide to go. Love offering is price of admission.

Our Body & Soul Fest (Diaper Day) will be Sat. Oct. 5 from 11 AM-4 PM. This is our annual fundraiser for the Good Samaritan Family Homeless Shelter in Bay City. It will offer readings, vendors, bake sale and possibly a used book sale and an energy healer on duty. The price of admission, which gets you a reading as well, is $15.00 or the equivalent in disposable diapers. We need volunteer workers as timers, Medium secretaries, bake sale and vendor helpers, set up and tear down extra hands. We will also need donations of baked goods delivered to the church for the bake sale! Please consider helping us with this worthy charity fundraiser. We tithe in this way because our congregation is not able to help our community in the same way but we can refer them to these great people. Sign up on sheet in kitchen area or speak with Rev. Laura.

Stay tuned on Facebook and during announcements on Sundays for new class offerings which may be scheduled in the months ahead.

Wishing each of you and your families a safe, peace filled Thanksgiving.

Namaste.

PSYCHIC SATURDAYS- Psychic Saturdays resume on the first Saturday of every month in the fall. Our first one after Oct. 5th Diaper day readings is Nov. 2nd. We start at 11 AM and take our last appointments at 1:15 PM. It is a first come, first serve basis. Donation: $15.00. This annual monthly fund raiser helps to defer heating costs in the winter months at the church.

BOARD/MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS: A Board Meeting will be held Sunday, Sept. 15th at 5:00 PM. If needed, another will be Sun. Nov. 10th at 4:15 PM. The fall Membership Meeting will be Sun. Sept. 29th at 5 PM with a POT LUCK at the same time.

CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS – Rev. Sandra’s Guides and Teachers Meditation classes will meet on the third Thursday of every month or as they agree on times and days. We will announce them at church or on Facebook. Rev. Laura’s Development Class for your spiritual gifts will resume in November on the first Sunday of each month at 4:15 PM.

WE ARE ON FACEBOOK– For last minute announcements, church closings due to weather conditions, class offerings, see our First Spiritual Church of Bay City page or group page. Our web site is still under construction.

WANT TO BECOME A MEMBER? After you have attended services for a time, if you desire to become a member, you can fill out a card located on the information counter and give it to a Board Member. It will be voted upon at the next Board meeting. You will receive a philosophy packet as well as a New Member Handbook to look over, and can ask Rev. Laura any questions you might have. Your Membership is formalized after Board approval with the Right Hand of Fellowship ceremony during a Sunday worship Service.

OUR MINISTERS OFFER COUNSELING, SPECIAL SERVICES

Our Ministers are available for personal counseling. In our church, that can mean two things. Pastoral Counseling is available for your life challenges and relationships like at any other church. Additionally, we offer Spiritual Counseling when you feel you need a private half hour reading. Pastoral Counseling is a part of our ministry and is a free service. Private readings are paid to the Minister you choose to ask and cost $60-$75 depending on the person you wish to sit with. Both types of assistance require appointments that can be made with that person. Our Ministers are also available for weddings and other special services. Ask about our flier outlining these services.

Summer 2019

“LET’S WALK THIS SPIRITUAL JOURNEY TOGETHER”

From the Pastor’s Desk…

Summer time is soon upon us! It’s most people’s favorite time of year. Our extra activities are kept to a minimum so everyone can enjoy their families, their gardens and the great outdoors! We are in our time of Summer Hours- 6:30 PM for Healing, 7:00 PM for our Worship service.

On July 13th we will have our church picnic/retreat at Rev. Carey and Steve Barker’s farm in Coleman. The membership voted to have a one day retreat instead of our 3 day retreat at camp Snowflake because so many had more demands on their time taking care of family. We will have a special guest from Midland, Jerry Mitchell, in the afternoon to do a sacred fire ceremony with us. We plan to come at 1 PM; we will eat lunch (bring dish to pass and beverages of choice) and share in jerry’s ceremony plus have time to visit with the Barker’s animal cast of characters in the barn and pastures. Address for your GPS: 2702 N. Geneva Rd. Coleman 48618. Note: I reported at the membership meeting that Jerry wanted women to wear skirts for the ceremony. This turns out to NOT be necessary.

Sadly, we did not get the help we needed to tackle the storage unit in April. We will have to reschedule this task in the fall at the next membership Meeting.

In the summer, we put out a call for the individuals who may have some free time now and then to do some meditative weeding around the church’s foundational plantings, driveway between asphalt and the building and out in our meditation garden. We do live in a residential neighborhood and hate to have our neighbors look at our building and think it an eyesore. If you live nearby and can spare some time now and then, please come help. Most of you know I live some 70 miles away and can’t make special trips to pull weeds, though I do whenever I am in town and not preparing to put on a worship service. Thanks in advance for your help!

We are again having a table at the Great Lakes Bay Pride Fest on Sat. June 29th from Noon-5 PM at the Wenona Park Friendship Shell. Please consider donating some time to help David and Paul Byrd-Fournier man our booth.

Our pot lucks will resume in the fall.

Namaste.
